WELCOME
We are a small group of like-minded volunteers with a passion for the Akita breed including the Japanese Akita Inu and a dedication towards their health and welfare.
We operate nationally and are totally self funded. All funds raised are directly put back into the rescue and used for the care, adoption and re homing of those Akitas in kennels under Second Chance Akita Rescue.
How… HOW is this boy still waiting?!
Finn is 2 years old, ridiculously handsome, and basically the definition of a good boy. Walks like a dream on the lead โ๏ธ Knows his commands โ๏ธ Loves a fuss โ๏ธ Lives for snacks (don’t we all ๐) โ๏ธ
He’s been an absolute gent around other dogs out and about, so he could potentially live with a calm, spayed female after a proper introduction. He’s also a sweet, gentle soul who could live with dog-savvy kids 12+.
Honestly? He hasn’t put a paw wrong. Not one. He’s already a kennel favourite and we’re all a bit obsessed ๐ฅน
All he needs now is someone to see him, choose him, and take him home ๐โก๏ธโค๏ธ
โจ Please share to help Finn find his forever family! โจ
DOG OF THE WEEK: FINN

NEWS & UPDATES

Anyone considering owning this breed needs to know the hardships and difficulties that can come with owning them.
Proper raising, training and socialising is imperative to a well rounded and balanced dog. That said, understand that genetically predisposed behaviours cannot be "trained" out. You never train away genetics. You manage them. So while you may raise an Akita that grows intolerant to other animals, you can manage those behaviours and train the dog in a way that they don't become reactive, aggressive and dangerous.
