Bandit

Bandit is 2 years old and is a very loveable boy who will politely come and give you love and check in with you.  He has been taught to do this by sitting nicely so he remains calm as he can get excited when he likes someone a little more than average.  He is a people friendly boy but will always reserve himself with new people and may bark until he knows they are ok - he’ll take this cue from those around him that he trusts.

Bandit currently lives with a female Akita and sees her as his leader and will always watch how she approaches situations before he matches her actions.  This has it’s pros and cons as the female’s reactivity to other dogs when out walking has increased over the last 6 months so Bandit will match this with his own form of reactivity which is usually in the way of lunging on the lead, however, when Bandit is walked on his own, he shows no reactivity to other dogs he sees and will usually just watch the other dog intently as they pass.

Bandit is a typical Akita in his character and shows his stubborn side as well as his aloof and independent side.  He is extremely well house trained, is usually non-vocal with noises, loves his crate/bed and gets more than a little excited when it’s meal time!  When his excitement is too much he usually grabs a toy to distract himself.

Bandit has been learning to play “fetch” when he’s in the mood but is yet to bring the ball back and he does like to kick a ball around the back yard on his own but needs a human to initiate this play for him.

Bandit has learnt all the standard commands - sit, down, paw, high five, bed, wait and stay. He is quick to learn new tricks and is always happy to perform for a treat.

He could live with a nice natured spayed female after a successful introduction. He hasn’t had much interaction with children so any resident children in his new home will need to be teenagers.
