15 month old Japanese Akita Hachi is looking for a new home due to a change in his owners circumstances. This is a very hard situation for them and they love him dearly.

Hachi is an absolute sweetheart and is very affectionate to those in his family circle. Seeking out cuddles with his humans and his canine companions. Our assessor would very much have liked to pop him in her pocket and take him home!

He is a nervous lad and can be fearful of new situations and strange places. With this in mind, his new family will need to be very patient and allow him the time to adjust to these new things.

He loves other dogs and feels safest when there is a dog around. His new home should have at least one confident friendly female dog who he can take reassurance from.

He walks well on the lead after his initial excitement at being out. However, if he is unnerved then he will look to hide or pull to get home.

His perfect home will be a family who love long rural walks with loads of interesting smells in fields and parks. They will be around for a lot of the time and will already have one or more female dogs. Hachi currently lives with a baby and behaves extremely well. We would prefer a quieter home for him so older children may be considered.

You will also need to be prepared to visit him on several occasions until he is confident with you being there and will be comfortable going home with you.
