Rocky is a handsome 18-month-old Akita who has sadly found himself in kennels through no fault of his own. Despite everything, he remains a friendly young lad who loves human company and enjoys plenty of fuss and attention. Now, all he’s missing is a forever family to call his own.

Rocky would thrive in a calm, understanding home where he can finally relax, feel safe, and build a close bond with his new family.

He loves getting out for walks and is generally good on the lead. Like many young dogs, he can head off with an enthusiastic burst of energy, but once he’s had a chance to take in his surroundings, he settles into a much more relaxed pace. Exploring the outdoors is one of his favourite things, and regular exercise is an important part of keeping him happy.

Rocky is still learning how to manage his excitement. When he becomes overstimulated, he may grumble and gently mouth a person’s hand as a way of communicating that things have become too much for him. He isn’t being naughty—he simply needs an experienced owner who understands canine body language, can recognise when he’s feeling overwhelmed, and can calmly guide him through these moments while helping him learn appropriate boundaries.

For this reason, Rocky is looking for an adult-only home with experienced Akita owners who understand the breed and are confident handling large, independent dogs. A calm, predictable environment with consistent routines will give him the best opportunity to settle in and flourish. He may also be able to live with a friendly, well-mannered female dog following successful introductions.

Like most young dogs, Rocky enjoys the simple things in life. He loves his walks, enjoys playing with toys, and has the best time running freely around the paddock at the kennels. He’s also highly food-motivated, making training and building positive routines both enjoyable and rewarding.

Rocky is a special boy who simply needs the right people to see his potential. With patience, understanding, and breed experience, he has every chance of becoming an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
